Submitter Comments: The “LaTasha Was Murdered” t-shirt commemorates the killing of a Black honor student. LaTasha Harlins who died in Los Angeles in 1991 was killed by Korean American storeowner Soon Ja Du in South Los Angeles. This is one of the incidents that incited the 1992 Los Angeles riots. The LWM t-shirt was used as part of a National Awareness Campaign called “LaTasha Was Murdered.” The graphic artist Lovelace Lee III felt this was the single most important t-shirt he ever created.
